Welcome to Orient Land Trust
Orient Land Trust is a nonprofit Colorado land trust dedicated to the preservation of natural resources, wildlife habitat, open space, and historic and geologic features of the northern San Luis Valley for the enjoyment of current and future generations. 100% of unrestricted donations go towards open space and land conservation.

Member Appreciation Weekend is coming soon!
The annual OLT Member Appreciation Weekend is scheduled for August 15th-17th, 2008.
This is the only weekend of the year that Valley View is open to current OLT Members ONLY... from 5 pm on Friday to Noon on Sunday.
If you aren't currently an Orient Land Trust member, become one today! See here for Annual Contributor Benefits.

Even though all current Members are welcome, reservations are required so we know how many people to plan for.
This year's entertainment has a Rockin' Blues theme, with Chris Cheslin on Friday night and the Johnny O. Band on Saturday night!

NEW! Learn more about Land Conservation...
See here for a good overview of land trusts, conservation easements, tax credits, and how Orient Land Trust
works with land owners to preserve land here in the San Luis Valley.

The serenity of winter at the Everson Ranch...

See what Orient Land Trust is all about - protecting the land, water, and clean air of the San Luis Valley.
View two pages of images of our peaceful rural beauty here and here. (large files - long download!)

Features of the lands protected by Orient Land Trust include a large bat colony, hot springs, alternative energy use, high altitude dark skies for astronomy, exposed active geological fault, limestone caves, numerous trails into a wilderness area, historic buildings, town sites at an abandoned iron mine and a working ranch.

Visitors to Orient Land Trust experience these features in a naturist (clothing-optional) setting and may camp or stay in rustic lodging.  The number of visitors is limited based on space available and environmental impact.

Just below timberline on July 14th, looking towards lush meadows and the Continental Divide in the Sawatch Range,
which are the distant 14ers you see looking northwest from Valley View over Poncha Pass.
This high-country heaven is off Chaffee County Road 240 which starts about 40 minutes from OLT.

The Busy Summer Season is Here!
*** Please call for reservations for Fri, Sat, and Holiday camping and Sat, Sun, and Holiday Day Use ***
Both overnight stays and day visits are subject to quotas to protect the land and to help provide
a positive visitor experience for everyone... Don't get turned away because we are full!

*** Ongoing... Complete FIRE BAN in the campground due to very dry conditions ***
Camp stoves and charcoal BBQ grills are OK

We have several openings on our Board of Directors. See here for information on becoming a board member and helping to guide the future direction of OLT.
