Member Appreciation Weekend
Every year,
Orient Land Trust sets aside one weekend during the summer months (June through
September) to thank our current members for the support you have given us
throughout the past year. Without you, we would not be able to accomplish
our mission!
The 2012 Member
Appreciation Weekend: TBD
This year's entertainment: TBD Entertainment suggestions are welcome! Send them to matt@olt.org
Plans are still being made
for this year's events, but in general, these are the "official" activities each
year:
 |
Friday and Saturday
nights: Live music and dancing in the pavilion until late in the
evening
|
 |
Saturday morning: The annual Lost and Found Sale of unclaimed items from the past year
|
 |
Saturday afternoon: A pot luck dinner at the pavilion... share a feast with 150-200 of your closest
friends!
|
 |
Sunday
morning: Free breakfast at the pavilion for all, provided by Orient
Land Trust
|
Because this is our way of saying Thank You! to our generous supporters,
this is the only time of the year that Orient Land Trust / Valley View Hot
Springs is open to Member Households Only. Between 5:00 pm on Friday and
Noon on Sunday all visitors MUST be a current member of OLT. See here for the
benefits of becoming a member,
including an invitation to this annual "party" weekend.
There
are several other features that make Member Appreciation Weekend different from
any other weekend of the year at OLT / Valley View:
 |
There are no quotas for day visitors or overnight guests. Every other summer weekend
we limit the number of guests to prevent overcrowding to ensure a positive
experience for everyone. There are NO such limits for Member Appreciation
Weekend - if you are a current member, you are invited! Consequently...
|
 |
This is by far the most
crowded weekend of the year. There may be up to twice as many guests
here as on a normal summer weekend, so be prepared for crowds. While our
indoor lodging is obviously limited, camping is unlimited this
weekend.
|
 |
Reservations are still
required! Even though all current members are invited, we still need to
know how many people will be attending, so please call ahead.
|
 |
Indoor lodging books up
well ahead of time. Cabins and Sunset rooms will usually be
reserved exactly three months* in advance, which you may do if you are a
Patron level contributor.
Oak House rooms and dorm beds generally last a little longer. (* for example, if you want a room starting on Thursday, August 12, the earliest
you can call to make reservations is at 9 am on May 12)
|
 |
Cars and Trucks are
parked along the road outside the gate. In order to make room for
everyone, all vehicles (after unloading) are parked on the road below the
welcome center unless you are actually (and literally!) sleeping in your
vehicle. This really opens up the grounds and makes Valley View feel
spacious and uncrowded.
|
 |
There is no 10 pm Quiet
Hour. Since this weekend is set aside for fun and celebrating with
friends, the normal 10 pm to 8 am quiet hours do not apply. If you
are looking for a peaceful, meditative experience at Valley View (which can
often be found at other times of the year), this is NOT the weekend to
visit!
|
 |
The full moon is on
Saturday, August 13. We generally schedule Member Weekend for on or
right before the full moon for maximum nighttime visibility and safety!
|
 |
Normal
admission fees still apply for lodging, overnight use, and day visits.
|
So if you
are not already a member, please consider joining Orient Land Trust... and then
join us here at Valley View for a great weekend of music, food, and fun: August 12-14, 2011!
